Profile Picture Instructions

Here are some tips for taking the perfect profile photo!
  • Get a friend or family member to help you take the photo
  • You can either use a DSLR camera or a recent version of a smart phone – the more recent the model, the better the photo!
  • It is best to do this in a place where there is natural sunlight – not in direct sunlight (which is too bright) nor in a dark place; try a shaded porch or backyard. A well-lit kitchen is the best location! Taking outdoor photos is best in the mornings and afternoons (avoid high noon).
  • A clutter-free backdrop looks the best for a profile picture.
  • The photo should showcase a bowl or plate of food in front of you, so the viewer can see the food.
  • Chefs often wear ethnic clothing that reflects their culture and cuisine. They look great in the picture! In order to avoid distortion in the photos, avoid wearing clothing with visible logos, stripes or checkers.
  • Refrain from wearing sunglasses, glasses, or baseball caps.
  • Make sure your iPhone (in case you are using one) is in “Portrait” mode and that the photo is vertical (not horizontal or landscape).
  • Put the person taking the picture directly in front of you, holding the camera a little above eye level and slightly slanted downwards so you’re looking up a little bit.
  • We recommend sending us at least 2-3 options for us to choose from so that in case the photos don’t come out well, we can offer you suggestions and ask you to take them again.
  • You can upload photos at your profile section in the app.
  • Enjoy yourself!
